Learning Aims

General Learning Aims

Aim 1. Graduates shall develop analytical, critical and reflective thinking skills and demonstrate these skills through effective communication

  • Objective 1: Graduates will be able to provide concise and engaging details for and persuasive development of the business documents. This includes integrated data and visuals.
  • Objective 2: Graduates will be able to focus on a complex, specific, and particular message.
  • Objective 3: Graduates will be able to use engaging and careful word choice and sentence structure.
  • Objective 4: Graduates will write with a sense of organization and unity.
  • Objective 5: Graduates will be able to write with clarity & language maturity.
  • Objective 6: Graduates will be able to write with an awareness of their audience.

Aim 2. Graduates will demonstrate an appreciation of leadership skills that include ethical reasoning, identifying the value of diversity, and service to others. PL 310 (Business Ethics), Diversity Core Class, Be the Benchmark service learning.

  • Objective 1: Graduates will be involved in leadership activities that involve service to others.
  • Objective 2: Graduates will be able to identify the value of diversity.
  • Objective 3: Graduates will demonstrate the nature of ethical reasoning, justice, and service to others and be able to incorporate these considerations in decision making.

Management Learning Aims

Aim 1. Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of the business environment.

  • Objective 1: Graduates will demonstrate knowledge of the technological, global, and economic environment of business.
  • Objective 2: Graduates will demonstrate knowledge of the environmental, regulatory, political and legal context of business.

Aim 2. Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of how statistical analysis, management science, and information technology are used to support organizational decision‐making.

  • Objective 1: Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of how to identify the problem or decision to be made.
  • Objective 2: Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of how to develop criteria and models relevant to the problem or decision.
  • Objective 3: Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of how to perform analysis using statistics or management science techniques.
  • Objective 4: Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of how to identify information technology (IT) to aid the organization in decision making.
  • Objective 5: Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of how to Interpret analysis to make a decision.

Aim 3. Graduates shall demonstrate the ability to use knowledge of the functional areas of business. Graduates will be able to integrate knowledge pertaining to the functional areas of business.

  • Objective 1: Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of how value is created, sustained and developed by an organization through the integrated production and distribution of goods and services.
  • Objective 2: Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of individual and group dynamics within an organization.
  • Objective 3: Graduates shall demonstrate knowledge of financial theories, analysis, reporting and markets and be able to evaluate the financial position of an organization.
  • Objective 4: Graduates will be able to integrate knowledge pertaining to the functional areas of business as a means to formulate and implement decisions intended to achieve organizational goals.
