A minor in accounting is available for students in all majors. Coursework covers financial accounting, taxation, and cost accounting, while also allowing students to tailor their experience to their career goals through the entrepreneur or CPA tracks.

Auditing

Every publicly listed company in the United States must undergo a yearly audit, and
many accounting students get their first job working for an auditing firm. Learn how
to assess reporting risk and understand the relationship between auditor and client.
Get acquainted with the audit risk model and learn the ethical responsibilities of
the auditor as guardian of the public’s trust.
Taxation of Business Entities

Get an in depth look into several topics in corporate taxation. You’ll start with
the structure of federal income and investment taxation then move through accrual
tax accounting, the taxation of business entities and more. Additional topics include
a comparative analysis of the various forms of business and an introduction to tax
research.
Accounting Information Systems
AC 402
Examine the role of accounting systems in the flow of information and assets. Learn
to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of accounting information systems from both
an internal control and an efficiency perspective. Learn how to detect fraud using
everything from quantitative tricks to an understanding of human behavior.
