Art History Degree Information
Students at Ãå±±ÂÖ¼émay complete a major in visual arts with a concentration in art history, a major in visual arts with a concentration in interarts, an interdisciplinary major, a minor in art history, a minor in interarts, or take art history courses as electives. Art history courses also fulfill requirements in several interdisciplinary minors such as American Studies, Gender Studies, Medieval Studies, Catholic Studies, Italian Studies, Asian Studies, and others.
Visual Arts Major, Art History Concentration
Requirements for the major:
- AH 109 - Non-Western Art or AH 110 - Western Art: Paleolithic to Gothic or AH 111 - Western Art: Renaissance to Contemporary
- AH 350 - Visual Thinking
- One AH 100-level or 300-level course
- Five AH 300-level or 400-level courses
- One AH 300-level or 400-level course outside of the dominant European tradition (AH 307, AH 326, AH 327, or AH 330. AH 360 and AH 402 may count depending topic)
- AH capstone consisting of an AH 400-level seminar or independent study (AH 401) or 3-credit internship (AH 403)
One course from the following:
- PT 270 - Basic Digital Photography
- SA 224 - Two-Dimensional Design
- SA 227 - 3-D Design in Art and Engineering
One additional course:
- Once students have taken PT 270 or SA 224 or SA 227 they are required to take one additional course. Students that completed PT 270 are required to take a PT 300-level or 400-level course. Students that completed SA 224 or SA 227 are required to take SA 225 - Drawing or a SA 300-level or 400-level course.
Visual Arts Major, InterArts Concentration
