Emergency Operations Plan

Disasters or emergencies can strike suddenly with little or no warning, creating an event where the normal operations of the University are interrupted. As such, Loyola University Maryland has developed a Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) to effectively handle emergencies and to guide our response efforts. The EOP establishes the management structure, key responsibilities, emergency assignments, and general procedures needed during and after a disaster or emergency. The priorities of this plan are to:

  1. Protect lives
  2. Stabilize the incident
  3. Minimize environmental and property damage
  4. Maintain critical campus services

This plan complies with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) requirements as established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The use of NIMS and ICS enables this plan to coordinate effectively with other jurisdictions involved in a response such as the local police, fire department, and various state or federal agencies.
